Biography

Jorge Zornberg is the Joe J. King Chair in Engineering in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. With 35 years of experience in geotechnical, geosynthetics, transportation, and geoenvironmental engineering, he has significantly impacted the field through his research and practice. His research is sponsored by notable organizations including the National Science Foundation, Federal Highway Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency. He has authored 550 technical publications and holds multiple patents. Zornberg serves on the editorial boards of several journals, such as Geosynthetics International and GeoEngineering, and has been invited to deliver keynote lectures worldwide. In 2019, he was recognized by the International Geosynthetics Society for his major contributions to the discipline with the establishment of the 'Zornberg Lecture'.
