Biography

Jørgen Fischer Nilsson is a Professor emeritus in the Department of Computer Science at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). His research activities primarily focus on knowledge-based systems and computational logic, with current interests in formal ontologies and the theoretical foundations of ontologies in software systems. Jørgen has worked on ontology-based computational processing of natural language and content-based search facilities. He received his MSc and PhD degrees from DTU in 1974 and 1977, respectively. Before becoming a full professor in computer science at DTU in 1987, he was a postdoctoral fellow at IBM Research Labs in California. He has also been a visiting research professor at Uppsala University. Jørgen has published numerous papers in international conferences and journals covering topics such as relational database systems, formal language theory, logic programming methodologies, and knowledge representation. He has supervised many M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates in his areas of expertise.
