Dr. Jörgen Ödalen

Biography

Jörgen Ödalen is an Associate Professor in Political Science at Uppsala University, specializing in political philosophy and higher education policy studies. His teaching focuses on political theory and human rights. Before joining Uppsala University, he worked as a Senior Lecturer and educational developer at Linköping University and has held an Associate Professor position at Mälardalen University. He has extensive experience as an education policy analyst with the Education Department of the City of Stockholm. Ödalen earned his PhD from Uppsala University in 2008, where his dissertation explored theories of justice, particularly in the context of international trade. His research interests include contemporary political philosophy, higher education policy studies, issues of sovereignty and self-determination at international and local levels, as well as global justice, climate justice, and migration. He has conducted research on the effects of pedagogical training courses for teachers in higher education and the teaching qualifications assessed during the recruitment processes for academic positions.
