Biography

José Ferreira is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at the University of Montreal. His research focuses on the use of sentinel node technology in the surgical treatment of colon cancer and the role of the BMI1 transcription factor in the proliferation and survival of human glioblastoma multiforme. He has made significant contributions to the field, including work on identifying fundamental genes regulating brain aging. He served as Vice-President of the Association of Pathologists of Quebec from 2012 to 2014 and held the position of Vice-President of the Executive Committee at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont's Medical Council from 2011 to 2013. He was recognized with an honorable mention for the Morrison H. Finlayson Award at the Canadian Association of Neuropathologists congress in September 1998.
