Dr. José Martínez

Biography

José Martínez is the Lee Teng-hui Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University. He is a faculty fellow at the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future and a member of the Computer Systems Laboratory. In his administrative roles, he has served as Associate Dean and Senior Associate Dean for Diversity Academic Affairs at Cornell Engineering. His research focuses on areas of computer architecture including reconfigurable self-optimizing architectures and in-near-memory processing. Martínez has received numerous accolades for his research contributions, including the IEEE Micro Top Picks papers, the HPCA Paper award, and the IEEE Fellow designation. He also holds degrees from Universidad Politécnica de Valencia and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he completed both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. He has been actively involved in editorial roles, serving as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Computer Architecture Letters and has held program chair positions for key conferences within the computer architecture community. In terms of teaching, Martínez instructs graduate and undergraduate courses in advanced computer architecture and has significantly contributed to the academic environment within Cornell Engineering.
