José del R. Millán holds the Linda Steen Norris & Lee Norris Endowed Chair in Neuroengineering at the University of Texas at Austin's Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Prior to joining UT Austin, he worked as a research scientist at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and as a senior researcher at the Idiap Research Institute in Switzerland. He has held visiting scholar positions at UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and the International Computer Science Institute. His work has earned him prestigious awards, including the IEEE-SMC Norbert Wiener Award in 2011 and recognition as an IEEE Fellow in 2017. Additionally, he was elected a Fellow of the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering in 2020.
