Dr. Jose Osorio Tejada

Biography

Jose Osorio-Tejada is a researcher at the School of Engineering, University of Warwick, where he joined as an Assistant Professor in 2021. His research focuses on life cycle assessment (LCA) of fertilizers and chemicals produced through plasma reactors powered by renewable energy. He is part of the ERC Synergy Grant-funded SCOPE project, which is supported by the European Commission, and has secured a Horizon Europe grant for the OPeraTIC project, which investigates laser-based technologies for green manufacturing. His work involves leading sustainability assessments and developing a framework to evaluate the environmental, economic, and social impacts of manufacturing processes using ultra-short-pulsed lasers. Additionally, he has gained significant experience in the automotive industry prior to his academic career. Jose earned his BSc in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira, Colombia, in 2009, followed by an MSc in Energy Technologies for Sustainable Development from Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain, awarded through a Fundación Carolina scholarship. He completed his PhD at Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain, in 2018, with a specialization in the life cycle assessment of alternative fuels in road freight transport. His contributions are notable in various sectors, including home appliances, aeronautics, and automotive industries, as well as in sustainability analysis across multiple case studies.
