Biography

The Penninger Lab is dedicated to developing effective treatments for diseases by uncovering fundamental biological principles underlying disease development. To accomplish these goals, the lab employs a broad range of in vitro and in vivo tools that reveal fundamental mechanisms involved in human disease. The diverse approaches utilized include genetic editing techniques both in vitro and in vivo, along with human-induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell models of disease, haploid genetic compound screening paradigms, and mouse and human organoid cultures, as well as genetically engineered mice. The multidisciplinary techniques used in the lab enable modeling of the complexity of diseases, thus providing insights essential for overcoming these challenges.
