Biography

Joseph Cox obtained his MD from Dalhousie University and completed an MSc in Epidemiology with a specialty in Public Health & Preventive Medicine training at McGill University. He is a consultant physician at the Chronic Viral Illness Service within the Division of Infectious Diseases at the McGill University Health Centre and is part of the Prevention Control Infectious Diseases Sector at the CIUSSS-Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal. His research program focuses on understanding the determinants of HIV, STIs, and hepatitis C, as well as evaluating related prevention and care interventions for vulnerable urban populations. His areas of expertise include public health, preventive medicine, sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections, substance use disorders, health services evaluation, surveillance, implementation science, and quantitative research with observational studies. His research interests span health services, health policy, infectious disease epidemiology, and public health.
