Dr. Joseph Dort

Biography

Joseph Dort is a Professor and Otolaryngologist at the Department of Surgery, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. He completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Western Ontario and subsequent residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Manitoba, followed by a fellowship in skull base surgery at the University of Zurich. He holds a Master's degree in Epidemiology from Harvard School of Public Health. His research focuses on the design and implementation of healthcare delivery systems, particularly relating to head and neck cancer. He leads initiatives that aim to enhance surgical outcomes and improve patient recovery through innovative pathways. His collaborative work involves teams at the University of Calgary and Stanford University in developing virtual reality and surgical simulation tools for surgical education. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has held various leadership roles in regional healthcare initiatives, focusing on quality improvement within Alberta Health Services. His dedication to patient care and education positions him as a key figure in advancing clinical practices and research in his field.
