Dr. Joseph Fort

Biography

Joseph Fort is a conductor and musicologist based in London. Since 2015, he has served as the College Organist and Director of the Chapel Choir at King's College London, where he is also a Senior Lecturer in Music. He completed his PhD at Harvard University immediately prior to taking on these roles. His performances with the King's College London Choir have been recognized for their excellence, described as 'the best of English choral singing' by Choir & Organ and receiving acclaim for 'astonishing intensity and musicality' from Gramophone. He has a robust discography with Delphian Records, having been featured in Editor’s Choice lists for 'best new classical albums'. His conducting work includes engagements with prominent ensembles such as the Britten Sinfonia and the English Chamber Orchestra. Joseph's academic interests center on eighteenth-century music and dance, leading to the publication of his monograph, 'Haydn's Minuets Eighteenth-Century Dance' by Cambridge University Press in 2025. He has actively contributed to scholarly journals and is involved in numerous performances, reflecting his dual passion for music and research.
