Biography

Joseph Gil, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. As an orthopedic surgeon, he specializes in treating hand and upper extremity conditions. He is board eligible with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Gil has advanced training in hand and upper extremity surgery, with particular interests in brachial plexus injuries, nerve conditions, tendon transfers, soft tissue reconstruction, wrist and finger arthritis, athletic wrist injuries, and upper extremity trauma. He earned his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency along with an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Brown University. Furthermore, Dr. Gil has completed a fellowship in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery at the Mayo Clinic. He is passionate about advancing orthopedic research, having co-authored 120 clinical and basic science research papers and contributed to book chapters. He has also presented his studies at multiple national and international meetings.
