Biography

With 28 years of service in various roles including inventor, product developer, manager, entrepreneur, strategist, board member, and professor, Joseph Holmes has built a career centered around the commercialization of technology. In 2000, he founded Acuity Edge, which provided business strategy and innovation management consulting services to corporate, university, government, and investor clients. Holmes has led commercialization efforts encompassing strategy development, opportunity evaluation, investor due diligence, technology marketing, partnership development, intellectual property valuation, deal negotiations, and startup management. He has assisted clients in managing over 3000 inventions across the engineering and life-science fields, resulting in hundreds of licensing deals, numerous startup companies, and millions in client revenue. His direct partnerships include BASF, Deloitte Consulting, Ford, GE, Panasonic, Mayfield Fund, Michigan State University, Motorola, NASA, and many others. Additionally, he has provided commercialization training both domestically and internationally through associations such as the Association University Technology Managers and the Licensing Executive Society. Since 2004, Holmes has taught Commercializing Technology Innovations and served as director of the Consulting Practicum Program as an adjunct professor in the Master of Engineering Management Program at Duke University.
