Dr. Joseph Leboeuf

Biography

Joe LeBoeuf has a distinguished career as a Professor of Practice Emeritus at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, specializing in leadership, leader development, and organizational culture. After enlisting in the Army in 1969, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1974, serving in multiple capacities, including as a Colonel with extensive experience in leadership development. He has commanded significant engineering units, contributed to the Army's leadership doctrine, and has been involved in various strategic projects aimed at enhancing the Army's professional ethic and character development. His academic credentials include a BS in Engineering from West Point, a Master’s in Engineering Psychology, and a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Georgia Institute of Technology. At Fuqua, he teaches courses related to managerial effectiveness and leadership and serves as a mentor within the Coach K Center of Leadership and Ethics. LeBoeuf's research has been published in various prestigious journals, and he has co-authored several key documents related to leadership development in military contexts. Outside of his professional responsibilities, he is married and has two children, both of whom have pursued careers influenced by their family's military background.
