Dr. Joseph Manne

Biography

Joseph S. Manne, MD, PhD, is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Care, and Pain Medicine at NYU Langone Health. With over 40 years of experience in the medical field, he specializes in Pain Management and Anesthesiology, focusing on adult patients. His clinical expertise lies in the use of multimodal pain management strategies that minimize reliance on opioids to enhance recovery outcomes. During his career, Dr. Manne has significantly contributed to research aimed at understanding and reducing pain, particularly through innovative approaches such as virtual reality as a supplementary treatment method. He is involved in pioneering initiatives designed to prevent chronic pain and opioid dependence in post-operative patients by integrating various modalities including non-opioid medications and physical therapy into patient care. Dr. Manne's education includes fellowships in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine from NYU, as well as a medical degree from New York Medical College. He has been a faculty member at NYU Langone for more than 25 years and is dedicated to improving patient outcomes and quality of life through both clinical practice and research.
