Biography

Joseph Y Tang is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Washington and went on to undertake a fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. Prior to joining the faculty at UW Madison, Dr. Tang was a musculoskeletal radiologist at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, where he interpreted diagnostic imaging and performed therapeutic injections, focusing on athletic injuries, joint replacements, and degenerative spinal disorders, including treatment for professional athletes such as the Boston Celtics. He has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, where he taught radiology and orthopedic physician trainees. Dr. Tang is actively involved in resident and fellow education, serving as a clinically active member of the Resident Education Committee and as a facilitator for small group discussions in medical student training. His research interests include spine and joint injections, musculoskeletal ultrasound, sports injuries, quality improvement, and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and outcomes. He is also the Director of Digital Communication for the musculoskeletal radiology section and serves as an assistant editor for the American Journal of Roentgenology.
