Biography

Joseph Twumasi-Ankrah is a Teaching Professor in the Master of Social Work program at Penn State University, specializing in Mental Health and Substance Use. He directs the online Master of Social Work program and has a robust background in Human Development and Family Studies. Joseph earned his Ph.D. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Administration and Leadership Studies, where he focused on the educational and social needs of diverse populations. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Lehman College and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the State University of New York at Oswego. With years of professional experience, he has addressed mental health needs among at-risk urban and rural populations, facilitating services for individuals dealing with trauma, depression, and anxiety. Joseph has previously served as a social work site director for a nonprofit organization in New York City, where he provided essential mental health services to students facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
