Biography

Joseph Wong is a Professor in the Department of Political Science and serves as the Vice-President, International at the University of Toronto. He holds the Ralph Roz Halbert Professorship in Innovation at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy. He is the founder and Principal Investigator of the Reach Alliance and previously served as Director of the Asian Institute at the Munk School from 2005 to 2014. Wong has received the Faculty’s Outstanding Teaching Award in 2013. His research focuses on issues such as poverty, equality, and globalization, applying policy analysis methods to these fields. Wong has contributed significantly to the literature on health policy and welfare states, especially in East Asia. His publications include works on universal health coverage and the political dynamics of health systems. Wong continues to engage in innovative research and collaborations aimed at addressing global challenges.
