Biography

Joseph Wright teaches at Penn State and currently serves as co-Director of the Global International Studies (GLIS) program. He previously held the Jeffrey L. Sharon D. Hyde Early Career Professorship. Wright completed his Ph.D. at UCLA in 2007. Before arriving at Penn State, he was a post-doctoral research associate and visiting faculty fellow at the University of Notre Dame. In 2016, he was a visiting scholar at Economic Research Southern Africa (ERSA) in Cape Town. His areas of interest include Comparative Politics, Dictatorships, Comparative Political Economy, Government Repression, and Civil-Military Relations.
