Biography

Josette Noël is an associate professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of Montreal since 2003. She obtained her bachelor's, master's, and doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Montreal and furthered her training in molecular biology related to the functional structure and membrane targeting of Na-H exchangers at the University of Nice. In 1995, she was recruited as a researcher by the Department of Physiology, where she developed expertise in the motility of cancer cells, leading to several national and international collaborations. Noël has always shown a keen interest in departmental, faculty, and university life, contributing to modernization, program creation, and enhanced scholarship offerings and recruitment activities. She has served as faculty secretary and has been the associate dean for student and faculty life in the basic sciences sector since 2012, as well as being responsible for awards and distinctions for the Faculty. Her research expertise includes modulators of cancer cell motility, particularly concerning the formation of metastases and the effects of cyclooxygenase inhibitors on cancer cell mobility.
