Dr. Joshua Kemp

Biography

Joshua Kemp is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a clinical psychologist. He completed his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Wyoming and underwent an NIMH-funded T32 postdoctoral fellowship in child mental health at Brown University and Bradley Hospital. Dr. Kemp serves as the Innovation Officer in the Office of Research Administration at Brown University Health, leading efforts to translate research innovations into scalable, real-world solutions. His research focuses on academic entrepreneurship and the development of novel, technology-enhanced interventions, such as virtual reality and gamified digital tools, to expand access to high-quality behavioral treatments, particularly for exposure therapy in anxiety-related disorders. He has founded multiple entities based on research dedicated to bridging the gap between scientific discovery and clinical impact. At the Pediatric Anxiety Research Center, Dr. Kemp contributes to federally funded projects aimed at improving the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based treatments in service settings. His work continues to explore ways to enhance therapist training, optimize clinical outcomes, and promote sustainable models of care.
