Dr. Joshua Kretchmer

Biography

Joshua Kretchmer is an Assistant Professor in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He leads a multifaceted theoretical chemistry group that develops and utilizes new methods at the intersection of electronic structure and quantum dynamics. The group's research aims to investigate the role of complex environments in governing intrinsically quantum mechanical phenomena. Kretchmer's work is focused on understanding how the quantum mechanical nature of systems drives their behavior under non-equilibrium conditions and within environments of infinite size. His research interests include computational theoretical chemistry, physical chemistry, and quantum dynamics, particularly in areas such as real-time electronic structure, light-matter interactions, and charge and spin-transport in quantum materials.
