Biography

Joshua Marshall is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Queen's University. He earned his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialization in control systems from the University of Toronto in 2005. His research expertise lies in field robotics engineering and he has focused on data-driven control systems, mobile robotics, and autonomous vehicle mapping. Dr. Marshall has a particular interest in the application of autonomous robots in mining, space, marine, and defense sectors, particularly in harsh-environment conditions. He has led the multidisciplinary Offroad Robotics research group since 2010 and serves as the founding Director of the collaborative robotics and artificial intelligence-focused Ingenuity Labs Research Institute. He has held various administrative positions, including Graduate Admissions Coordinator and Associate Head of his department. Prior to his current role, he was an Assistant Professor at Carleton University and worked as an R&D/Control Systems Engineer on advanced robotics projects. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has contributed to numerous publications within the field.
