Joshua Robinson is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. He received his B.S. in Physics from Towson University in 2001 and his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Penn State in 2005. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship at the Naval Research Laboratory, he returned to Penn State as a research professor at the Applied Research Laboratory in 2007. Professor Robinson joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in 2012 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2016, and Full Professor in 2020. He co-founded the Center for Two-Dimensional Layered Materials in 2013, and became the Director of User Programs for the NSF-funded 2D Crystal Consortium in 2016. His research focuses on the synthesis, properties, and performance relationships of 2D materials, with applications in high-frequency electronics, quantum computing, and catalysis. He has published over 250 research articles and presented more than 150 invited talks, receiving numerous honors for his work.
