Biography

Joshua Rosenthal is a lecturer in Integrative Biology at the University of Chicago and also associated with the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL). His work primarily focuses on cephalopod biology and the underlying mechanisms of RNA editing that contribute to the diversity of the coleoid cephalopod brain proteome. He has published several significant studies exploring the implications of high-level RNA editing, the development of CRISPR-Cas9 applications in cephalopods, and the extensive recoding of neural proteomes in response to environmental factors. His research interests also extend to the evolution of cephalopods, highlighting the genome and transcriptome mechanisms behind these processes. With affiliations to various research networks, Rosenthal aims to deepen our understanding of cephalopod biology using emerging fields and technologies.
