Biography

Josh Winn's research goals explore the properties of planets and stars, understand how planets form and evolve, and make progress on the age-old question of whether there are planets capable of supporting life. His group uses optical and infrared telescopes to study exoplanetary systems, especially focusing on star-planet eclipses. Winn is a Participating Scientist with the NASA Kepler team and a Co-Investigator on the ongoing Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite mission. Over the years, his group has pursued a variety of topics, including stellar astronomy, tidal evolution, planetary dynamics, radio interferometry, gravitational lensing, and photonic bandgap materials.
