Biography

Josie Fullerton is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Glasgow's School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health. She completed her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and a Master of Research in Biomedical Science at the University of Glasgow. In 2017, she earned her PhD from the University of Strathclyde, focusing on the neural mechanisms of nicotine addiction. Her postdoctoral research has involved investigating traumatic brain injury, stroke, and hypertensive heart disease, with a current focus on the therapeutic potential of extracellular vesicles in hypertensive heart disease. Josie is actively engaged in initiatives aimed at promoting career development for early career researchers, particularly through her involvement with the Athena Swan Self-assessment Team and the Network for Early career Researcher Development (NERD). She has presented her work at various public outreach events, including the Edinburgh Science Festival and Glasgow Science Centre. Her research interests include cerebrovascular neuropathologies, ischaemic stroke, hypertension, and the role of extracellular vesicles in cerebrovascular disease.
