Biography

Josien Pluim is a Full Professor in Medical Image Analysis at Eindhoven University of Technology and the head of the Medical Image Analysis group. She also holds a part-time professorship at the University Medical Center Utrecht and serves as vice-dean of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at TU/e. Her research focuses on image analysis, including techniques such as registration, segmentation, and detection, utilizing machine learning and deep learning methodologies for clinical applications. Josien Pluim completed her studies in Computer Science at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, graduating in 1996 with a specialization in Scientific Computing and Imaging. She obtained her PhD in 2001 and progressed through ranks to assistant and associate professor before her full professorship in 2014. Josien has co-authored over 250 peer-reviewed scientific papers, is an associate editor for five journals, and has served on the Executive Board of the Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Society. She is also a fellow of the IEEE and MICCAI Society.
