Biography

Joyce Lubert has a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and Translation, alongside a Certificate in Educational Psychology from Université de Montréal. She is a member of the Société des Traducteurs du Québec and has worked as a professional translator and consecutive interpreter. In 1986, she moved to Madrid, where she lived for 30 years and obtained Spanish nationality. Her travels across nearly 60 countries on four continents have broadened her cultural perspective. Joyce is passionate about teaching languages, dedicating her career to instructing English and French to a diverse audience, from university students to executives in major corporations such as Deloitte, Accenture, and the Spanish Ministry of Defence. She has served as a full-time language professor at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, specializing in Legal Business English. Joyce also taught at Universidad Europea de Madrid and has worked as a language consultant for professionals preparing for official state exams and international conferences. Additionally, she gained experience working with media for Endesa and translating technical articles for the Material Science Department of the Politécnica de Madrid. In 2017, she returned to Canada and commenced her Master's in Hispanic Studies at UBC, where she has also worked as a Teaching Assistant and T.A. Coordinator in the FHIS Department. Joyce enjoys developing new learning materials and is currently interested in translating literature between French, Spanish, and English.
