Dr. Joyce Ou

Biography

Joyce Ou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School. She serves as the Director of Informatics at Care New England Health System, focusing on clinical informatics and women's oncologic pathology. An award-winning educator, she also holds the position of Co-Vice Chair for Education in her department. Joyce completed her MD and PhD in Neuroscience at Vanderbilt University and furthered her training with a residency and fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by subspecialty training at Brown and Women & Infants Hospital in Rhode Island. Her expertise lies in developing strategies for the real-world implementation of healthcare technology, with a master's degree in clinical informatics management from Duke University School of Medicine. Her research interests include gynecologic oncology, machine learning-driven analytics, user-centered design, and the integration of AI tools in education. Throughout her career, she has actively engaged in faculty development and learning design, significantly enhancing the educational curriculum.
