Biography

Dr. Richey is currently a faculty member in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. She holds the position of Associate Dean for Student Engagement and Cultural Affairs. Her research focuses on the relationship between diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. Dr. Richey has secured research funding from prominent organizations, including the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the American Heart Association, and the American Diabetes Association. Her research efforts have resulted in numerous publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. Furthermore, Dr. Richey served as the immediate past president of the Los Angeles Leadership Council for the American Diabetes Association and as chairperson for the Los Angeles African American Diabetes Task Force. She also participates as a peer grant reviewer for the American Heart Association's Western National Affiliates.
