Biography

Joyce W. Tang, MD, MPH is an associate professor in the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago. She is a general internist actively engaged in the Comprehensive Care Program, focusing on providing long-term primary care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. A significant part of her research centers on developing patient stakeholder-engaged methodologies to enhance care delivery. She leads qualitative research projects within the Comprehensive Care Program and facilitates the CCP Patient Community Advisory Board. In her educational role, she serves as the Co-Course Director for the preclerkship Clinical Skills and Reasoning Course and has developed the Patient-Centered Longitudinal Experience program for preclerkship medical students that pair them with patients to co-navigate clinical care experiences. Additionally, her interests include integrating self-compassion into educational and clinical practices.
