Biography

Joyce W. Tang, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. She works as a general internist in the Comprehensive Care Program, focusing on the delivery of longitudinal primary care in both inpatient and ambulatory settings for patients facing complex medical and social needs. Dr. Tang's research interests center on improving care delivery through developing patient-engaged approaches. She leads qualitative research initiatives within the Comprehensive Care Program and facilitates the CCP Patient Community Advisory Board. Additionally, from an educational standpoint, she serves as the Co-Course Director for the preclerkship Clinical Skills and Reasoning Course. Dr. Tang has developed and now leads an educational program called the Patient Centered Longitudinal Experience, which partners preclerkship medical students with patients to navigate clinical care experiences across various settings. She is particularly interested in integrating self-compassion into her educational and clinical practices.
