Biography

Joyce Wu is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at the University of New South Wales, with a focus on the Global Development Stream. She holds a PhD from the Australian National University and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Joyce has a diverse background in interdisciplinary research and practitioner experiences related to gender issues, particularly concerning sexual and gender-based violence in conflict and post-conflict situations. Her research interests also encompass intersectionality, inequality, gender mainstreaming, sustainable development, climate change, and equity and diversity in higher education. In her prior academic role, Joyce worked with the Australian Government and the United Nations on gender and development issues, specifically with the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women. Furthermore, she has served as a Research Fellow at CSIRO, where she integrated gender and social considerations into water resource management programs in South Asia. Currently, Joyce is involved in the Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) research collaboration, funded by the Australian Government's Business Partnership Platform, which supports community resilience and empowerment through the maintenance and repair of solar panel products in Vanuatu.
