Biography

Joydeep Ghosh currently serves as the Schlumberger Centennial Chair Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas, Austin, where he joined the faculty in 1988. He completed his B.Tech at IIT Kanpur in 1983 and received his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in 1988. Ghosh founded and directs the Intelligent Data Exploration and Analysis Lab (IDEAL). He teaches graduate courses on data mining and web analytics and has been recognized several times as 'Best Professor' in the Software Engineering Executive Education Program at UT. His extensive research includes over 500 refereed papers and numerous awards, notably the IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement Award in 2015. Ghosh's research focuses on data mining, scalable machine learning algorithms, and ethical AI applications in real-world problems such as health informatics. He has held leadership roles in major conferences and has consulted for numerous high-profile companies.
