Juan grew up in Guatemala and attended school in Italy. He graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in Molecular Biology and obtained his Ph.D. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Juan previously worked as an HHMI LSRF Fellow at the Melton Lab at Harvard University, where he studied the physiological maturation of pancreatic islets.
