Biography

Juan Pablo Bello is a Professor of Music Technology at New York University, with a focus on interdisciplinary work at the intersection of science, technology, music, and sound. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics from Simón Bolívar University in 1998, followed by a PhD in Electronic Engineering from Queen Mary University of London in 2003. His research interests include machine listening, audio signal processing, and music information retrieval, culminating in the publication of nearly 200 papers, articles, books, and conference proceedings. Bello is the director of the Music Audio Research Lab (MARL), a center dedicated to pushing the boundaries of research and development in audio technology. His leadership also extends to the NYU Center for Urban Science and Progress from 2019 to 2022. He is recognized as a Fellow of the IEEE and a Fulbright Scholar, with significant contributions to public and private institutions in Venezuela and the UK, and has received multiple awards from the National Science Foundation for his work.
