Biography

Juan Carlos (JC) Carbajal is an Associate Professor in the School of Economics at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. He joined UNSW in 2013 after spending five years at the University of Queensland. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and a PhD in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis. His research interests include game theory, mechanism design, behavioral economic theory, and political economy. His work utilizes economic theory to study broad and deep questions related to institutional design and the allocation mechanisms of political institutions. Recently, he has been focusing on encoding models of bounded rationality using Bayesian networks to explore decision-making in misspecified models.
