Juan M. Dominguez received his Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. He has held postdoctoral fellowships with dual appointments in the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Following his postdoctoral training, Dr. Dominguez joined the research faculty of the neuroscience program at Florida State University. His research focuses on elucidating the underlying neural and endocrine mechanisms that regulate motivated behaviors, particularly through the study of sexual behavior as a prototypic model for understanding motivation, acquisition, and associated disorders such as substance abuse disorder and depression. Dr. Dominguez's work investigates the neuroendocrinological factors that contribute to sexual behavior and the biological-sex differences in responses to drug abuse.
