Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London's Department of Bioengineering, leading the Behaviour Neural Dynamics Lab (Be.Neural). He works with a multidisciplinary team of researchers at the intersection of systems neuroscience and neural engineering. Currently based at the Champalimaud Centre in Lisbon, his lab primarily focuses on understanding the brain and spinal cord in relation to motor control and behavior. He conducts experiments that address questions of motor control and collaborates with researchers investigating various aspects of behavior. Additionally, he is interested in leveraging knowledge to develop neural interfaces aimed at restoring movement in individuals with motor disabilities, particularly those with Parkinson’s disease, tremors, or paralysis. His team pursues these goals through a combination of behavioral experiments, high-yield neural recordings, data analysis techniques, and computational models. His research is funded by the European Research Council (ERC), European Commission Horizon Programme, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA), InBrain Neuroelectronics, and Meta Reality Labs. For more information on his research, visit the Be.Neural Lab website.
