He began his career as a financial analyst assessing securitization of real estate finance vehicles at Mexico's central bank. Additionally, Juan has taught economics and statistics at Loyola Marymount University, and venture management economics at California Lutheran University. He has also been involved in international banking at ITAM in Mexico City. Juan earned his Full-Time MBA from UCLA Anderson in 2004 and his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Universidad de las Américas – Puebla in 2000. He is an active short-distance triathlete and has represented Mexico’s National Team in age group World Championships in 2014 and 2015, as well as classified to race in the U.S. Nationals in 2024.
