Biography

Juan Reyes is a Principal Research Engineer at Linköping University with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. He received his PhD in Neuroscience from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. His research has significantly advanced the understanding of the cell-to-cell transmission of alpha-synuclein pathology in neurodegenerative conditions. After completing his doctorate, Reyes pursued post-doctoral positions at Lund University and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), where he conducted pivotal research on the mechanisms of alpha-synuclein transmission in animal models of Parkinson's disease. Currently, he holds a Senior Research Fellow position where he studies the molecular mechanisms linking alpha-synuclein accumulation with cellular pathways in both central and peripheral nervous systems. His work has been published in well-respected journals, including Acta Neuropathologica and PNAS, contributing to the broader understanding of disease mechanisms in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases.
