Biography

Juan Pablo Yanez Garza is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Alberta. He completed his PhD in Experimental Physics at Humboldt University of Berlin in 2014. His research focuses on neutrino physics, including neutrino oscillations and atmospheric neutrinos, with special emphasis on novel detector technologies. As a key member of the IceCube project, which involves a cubic kilometer neutrino telescope located at the South Pole, he has contributed significantly to the understanding of astrophysical neutrino flux and its origins. He is also involved in the development of the Pacific Ocean Neutrino Experiment (P-ONE) and has collaborated on hybrid photodetector development projects relevant to astroparticle physics experiments. Additionally, he teaches various physics courses, helping students master fundamental skills for research laboratories and experimental project execution.
