Biography

Professor Kong is the Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Modeling lab (AIMMlab) at the University of Toronto. He is also the Director of the Africa-Canada Artificial Intelligence and Data Innovation Consortium and a liaison for the Global South Artificial Intelligence for Pandemic and Epidemic Preparedness and Response Network. With a PhD in Mathematics, he specializes in artificial intelligence, data science, mathematical modeling, and mathematics education. His principal research program focuses on developing and deploying innovative AI and mathematical methodologies to resolve complex issues arising from 'real-world' applications in epidemiology, ecology, and data processing. He has extensive academic experience, including a postdoc at Princeton University and various degrees in mathematics and engineering from institutions in Canada, Germany, and Italy.
