Judith Roger completed her undergraduate medical studies in 1975 at Karl Franzens University in Graz, Austria. From 1975 to 1979, she underwent further training in Austria and subsequently continued her education with a rotating internship and surgery training in Calgary from 1980 to 1985. After serving as a GP surgeon in Baie Verte, Newfoundland from 1985 to 1987, she completed a General Surgery Residency Program at Memorial University of Newfoundland between 1987 and 1993. During her medical career, she conducted research including work on K excretion in postoperative cardiovascular patients and the effectiveness of early versus late debridement in pediatric burns. In 1993, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and has been a staff surgeon at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook since that year. Judith has also held the position of President of Staff from 1996 to 1998. She joined the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1995, where her clinical and research interests include plastic surgery, breast surgery, hand surgery, and bariatric surgery.
