Dr. Judith Van Den Brand

Biography

Judith van den Brand is an Associate Professor of Pathology at Utrecht University and a veterinary pathologist with a focus on emerging zoonotic viral diseases such as Usutu virus, West Nile virus, and Coronaviruses. She serves as the director of the Dutch Wildlife Health Centre and has been involved as a consultant in research and development projects for vaccines and antivirals related to COVID-19. She completed her PhD in 2013 under the supervision of notable professors in the field and is board certified as a European veterinary pathologist. Van den Brand regularly publishes peer-reviewed articles in high-standard journals, contributing significantly to the scientific community. She has participated in several international research projects related to infectious diseases and is actively involved in curriculum development in the veterinary education sector. Van den Brand has also been recognized for her career development efforts and is a member of several professional boards and committees that focus on veterinary pathology and wildlife health services in the Netherlands.
