Biography

Prof. Juergen Rauleder’s research interests encompass experimental applied numerical aerodynamics, focusing on interactional configuration aerodynamics, aero-propulsive interactions, coupled aerodynamics with flight dynamics, and new (distributed) propulsion concepts. He also explores fluid-structure interactions with applied aspects of active and passive rotating fixed-wing systems. His research involves basic studies in aerodynamic design and optimization, aimed at enhancing the understanding of current and future air vehicles, particularly in advanced urban aerial mobility and UAS pilot training simulators. Juergen's research is sponsored by various organizations including the U.S. Army, Navy, NASA, NSF, ONR, NATO, the EU, and industry. He earned his master's degree from the University of Stuttgart and completed a PhD at the University of Maryland under the mentorship of Prof. Gordon Leishman. Juergen is an Associate Fellow of the AIAA and actively serves on the AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Committee and the VFS Aerodynamics Technical Committee.
