Jules Harings is a Full Professor of Macromolecular Physics & Technology at Maastricht University. He attained his PhD in Polymer Technology from Eindhoven University of Technology under the supervision of Professors P.J. Lemstra and S. Rastogi in 2009. His thesis focused on 'Shielding deshielding amide-based (macro)molecules'. Prior to returning to academia, he spent four years as an Industrial Research Scientist and Project Leader in fiber physics and new product development at Teijin Aramid, where he was honored with the Teijin Global R&D Award in 2011. His research interests are centered on the study and technical tailoring of the behavior of macromolecules at nano- and macroscopic length scales. His current research topics include molecular design of high-performing biomedical polymers for 3D printing in regenerative tissue engineering, as well as the development of polymer processes with specific nucleating agents and controlling the structure evolution of polyamides to optimize their properties through molecular design.
