Dr. Jules Van Binsbergen

Biography

Jules H. Van Binsbergen is the Nippon Life Professor of Finance at the Wharton School. He conducts theoretical and empirical research in finance and has received numerous awards for his research and teaching. His current research primarily focuses on asset pricing and examines the relationship between financial markets and the macro economy, along with topics like organizational skill and performance of financial intermediaries. His recent papers highlight the real implications of stock market mispricing and the effectiveness of monetary policy, as well as measuring skill among investment managers. Professor Van Binsbergen's works have been published in leading academic journals, including the American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Journal of Monetary Economics. He earned his PhD from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and has previously taught at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is also involved with the NBER and CEPR as a research associate and serves as an editor and associate editor for multiple finance journals.
