Dr. Julia Bahner

Biography

Julia Bahner is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Work at Lund University. Her research primarily focuses on the issues surrounding youth with disabilities, particularly in the context of sexuality and health. She is currently leading a Forte-funded research project exploring the digital engagement of the Swedish disability rights movement, analyzing the challenges posed by digitalization and the implications for member engagement. Bahner has also conducted significant work on sexual health among young people with disabilities, aiming to improve their empowerment and knowledge in this area. She has been involved in various research initiatives, including projects that map literature on motivational interviewing for sexual health and studies examining the sexual rights of people with disabilities. Her research results have been disseminated in several publications, including book chapters and articles addressing sexuality and disability rights. Additionally, Bahner teaches in both bachelor's and master's programs and supervises doctoral students, contributing to the education of future social work professionals. She frequently collaborates with civil society organizations and authorities to promote inclusion and development in the field of disability rights and accessibility.
